Styles of massage on offer
Remedial Massage:
Remedial massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body, through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, by either following or crossing over the muscle fibres, fascia and tendons.
The techniques can include Trigger Point Therapy, Deep Tissue Massage and stretching thereby creating an improved range of motion through the joints. I will also provide information and advice for re-educating your body to let go of built up tension and to help correct muscular imbalances in the body.
Relaxation Massage:
This classic style of massage, commonly known as Swedish massage, is performed with slow sweeping strokes that soothe away tension, leaving you feeling relaxed and refreshed.
Hawaiian Hot Stone Massage:
Hawaiian Hot Stone massage could be considered the ultimate in relaxation massage. The use of the stones and massage techniques help to create a blissful and deep state of relaxation and emotional harmony.
A variety of different stones are used to massage in a glorious sequence using long flowing strokes along with delicious hot oil.
The stones are high in iron and magnesium, which allows them to retain heat and release their healing energy deep into the muscle. Used in combination with oil they glide over muscles melting tension away.
Hot stone massage improves circulation and calms the nervous system. Wonderful for those with stress, tension, muscular pain, anxiety or depression or just because as a well deserved treat.
This wonderfully relaxing treatment should not be missed!
Prenatal Massage:
As each trimester brings many new changes to the pregnant body, massage therapy can be an effective part of prenatal health. Massage increases circulation and the flow of lymphatic fluid which can reduce swelling in the limbs and help lower blood pressure.
As the abdomen grows, many women experience hip, back and neck pain as the pelvis tilts forward and soft tissues elongate to balance and support the growing baby. Massage is soothing and effective in bringing relief from pain and many common conditions associated with pregnancy.
Cupping
In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), cupping is a method of applying acupressure by creating a vacuum next to the patient's skin. The therapy is used to relieve what is called "stagnation" in TCM terms, and is used in the treatment of respiratory diseases such as the common cold, pneumonia, and bronchitis. Cupping is also used to treat back, neck, shoulder, and other musculoskeletal pain. Its advocates claim it has other applications as well.
